This time we invite you, along with the author Rudolf Fišer, to a unique journey through a set of monuments in the Urban Monument Zone in Třebíč, which includes the former Jewish quarter called Zámostí, a Jewish cemetery north of the quarter and the Basilica of St. Prokop. These historic sites were officially adopted as part of the world cultural heritage and inscribed on the UNESCO List. Romanesque-Gothic Basilica of St. Prokop, built in years 1240 - 1260, is one of the jewels of European architecture. Its construction was influenced by a Late Romanesque-oriented building school, which had come to this region from southwestern France through Burgundy and the Upper Rhine. The Jewish quarter is very comprehensively preserved in the impressive environment of the river and the rock massif north of the main center of Třebíč. In the Jewish quarter, you can feel mysterious atmosphere of winding alleys, dark corners, vaulted passages and other typical elements, which has been developing since the Middle Ages till 20th century and now is considered as a unique architectural ensemble, not only in Europe but also in the world.
