Spring 1906. During a vacation in Switzerland, Lviv Police Commissioner Adam Vistovych is suddenly involved in a dangerous espionage game in which not only human lives but also the destinies of empires are at stake. By deciphering a secret document, Vistovych learns too much for an ordinary detective from distant Austrian Lviv. At the same time, from a clinic in the resort of Baden disappears a strange Russian patient, who is wanted by intelligence from several countries, and in Venice happens the murder of an inconspicuous translator from German. Vistovych will have to find out how these events are connected and why traces of seemingly unrelated cases lead to Lviv.
