Reprezentativní publikace z pera zasvěceného znalce české fotografie Antonína Dufka potvrzuje zásadní postavení Viléma Reichmanna v dějinách české fotografie, zejména její surrealistické linie. Světového uznání se jeho dílu dostalo retrospektivními výstavami, uspořádanými v r. 1989 a 1990 Muzeem v Bochumi (Museum Bochum) a Muzeem moderního umění ve Vídni (Museum moderner Kunst). Reichmann pochází z brněnské německo-židovské komunity. Intenzivně fotografovat začíná až po druhé světové válce, kdy se stává členem surrealistické skupiny Ra. Proslavil se zejména imaginativními fotografiemi, založenými na poetice náhodných setkání, tvarových analogií či zvětšených detailů. Kniha je uvedena podrobnou charakteristikou autorovy tvorby na pozadí životních osudů, následuje bohatá fotografická část, v níž je každý cyklus zastoupen nejvýznamnějšími snímky.

A representative monography written by Antonín Dufek, an erudite specialist in the field of the Czech photography, confirms Reichmann's fundamental position in the history of the Czech photography, especially its surrealist movement. His work gained an international acknowledgement due to the retrospective exhibitions organized in 1989 and 1990 by the Museum in Bochum (Museum Bochum) and The Museum of Modern Art in Vienna (Museum moderner Kunst). Reichmann comes from the German-Jewish community in Brno. He started to photograph more intensively after the World War II when he becomes a member of ‘Ra', a surrealist art group. He became famous mainly for his imaginative photographs, based on the poetry of encounters, shape analogies or enlarged details. The book is introduced by a detailed characteristic of the author's work on the background of his life, followed by a copious photographic section; each cycle being represented by the most important pictures.

Diese repräsentative Publikation, deren Autor - Antonín Dufek - ein sachkundiger Kenner ist, belegt die Schlüsselposition von Vilém Reichmann in der Geschichte der tschechischen Fotografie und besonders ihres surrealistischen Zweigs. Die weltweite Achtung verdankt der Künstler seiner retrospektiven Ausstellungen in den Jahren 1989 und 1990 im Museum Bochum und im Museum moderner Kunst in Wien.Reichmann stammt aus dem deutsch-jüdischen Milieu in Brno. Als Fotograf wurde er erst nach dem zweiten Weltkrieg tätig, in der Zeit wurde er auch Mitglied der surrealistischen Gruppe Ra. Er wurde vor allem durch seine imaginativen Fotografien berühmt, die von der Poetik zufälliger Begegnungen, Analogien der Form und vergrößerter Details geprägt sind. In der Einleitung wird die Schöpfung des Künstlers vor dem Hintergrund seiner Lebensperipetien ausführlich charakterisiert, dann folgt ein umfassender Fotografienteil, in dem jeder Zyklus durch die bedeutendsten Fotos repräsentiert wird.
